Which doors should be locked?
All exterior doors are to remain locked during the school day.
Interior doors should be closed and locked (or “Lock Blok” engaged).
DO NOT prop doors open.
What is a Go Bucket?
Go Buckets contain items that can be used in emergency situations, particularly during Lockdowns.
Go Buckets are in all classrooms and other staffed spaces. Exact locations of Go Buckets are noted by a yellow sticker on the inside of room doors.

When would the school initiate a Hold?
HOLD is often used when there is a medical emergency requiring the halls to be cleared for first responders.
Initiated by an intercom announcement.
When is a Lockdown used?
LOCKDOWN IS USED FOR LIFE THREATENING SITUATIONS INSIDE THE CAMPUS/FACILITY.
Initiated by Emergency Response Button (ERB) and followed by LOCKDOWN email with action instructions and staff accountability link.
Command Post is activated to coordinate response and account for staff/students.
When is Evacuate used?
EVACUATE is used in response to an environmental danger impacting the school/facility.
Initiated by an intercom announcement.
Evacuate the building and follow directions from the announcement. Default evacuation location is your designated Rally Point.
Why lock doors?
Locking doors is an industry “Best Practice” supported by incident data and promoted by school safety organizations, to include Sandy Hook Promise.
Statistics show that one of the safest places to be during an active shooter event is behind a locked door.
This an easy to implement preventative measure to keep our schools safe.

SHELTER is primarily used in response to earthquake or weather events.
Initiated by an intercom announcement. Shake (earthquake) Alert may also be received.
Earthquake instructions may include: Drop, Cover, and Hold
Remain in shelter mode until an All Clear announcement is made.

ERBs activate site alarms and trigger emergency response (police, EMS, etc.)

SECURE is used for external threats (wildlife danger, police activity in close proximity to school, etc.)
Initiated by intercom and followed by SECURE email with action steps and accountability link.

What is the purpose of the Email Notification during an SRP?
Command Post phone numbers.
Prominent notification of type of drill (Secure or Lockdown).
Immediate action steps.
Accountability instructions:
Primary accountability is via the ACCOUNTABILITY link (spreadsheet)
If unable to access via the link, “Respond All” to original email

What does ALICE stand for?
ALERT - Awareness of surroundings and recognition of danger signs
LOCKDOWN - If unable to evacuate, shelter and barricade in place
INFORM - If able, share timely and accurate information with others
COUNTER - As a last resort, distract and disrupt the intruder
EVACUATE - If possible, evacuate to your rally point
How many types of ERB buttons are there?
There are two types of ERBs: ERB Wall Buttons and ERB FOBs
What is SRP
The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is a clear, action-based emergency plan using simple, consistent language: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter.
SRP provides consistent, clear, shared language and actions among all students, staff and first responders, that can be applied in any emergency.
What should you do during a Secure?
Close exterior blinds (windows/doors) and lock doors.
Continue business as usual. Any movement outside of secure spaces must be approved by the Command Post (student movement must be supervised).
Provide your status via the accountability sheet (or, if necessary, Reply All to the original email).
When resolved, an ALL CLEAR intercom message (by Admin & SRO) and email will be initiated.
What should you do during a Lockdown?
What should you do:
Lockdown in the nearest securable space: lock all doors, lights off, cover windows, and silence cell phones!
Prepare to Barricade and/or Counter! (REMEMBER YOUR ALICE TRAINING).
Remain calm and CALL 911.
Disperse staff/students within the room and remain out of sight.
When safe to do so, provide your status via the accountability sheet (or, if necessary, Reply All to the original email).
When safe to do so, allow students to text parents.
Command Post will provide as much information as possible based upon the situation.
DO NOT open doors! First Responders have master keys to open doors. Await their response or an All Clear notification.
What is the difference between SRP and ALICE?
SRP (Standard Response Protocol) - All-Hazards Preparedness
During an emergency, an SRP command (via intercom or alarm system) will be given to orchestrate organizational response.
ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) - Active Threat Response
If an active threat emerges, ALICE guides your individual and collective responses to the specifics of the situation you are facing.
What should you do after you push an ERB button?
Call 911 and explain the situation. If the button has been pushed falsely by a student- let the office staff know immediately. Then call 911 and explain the situation.
What happens when SRP is initiated?
Staff will receive an intercom announcement,
Secure or Lockdown activation will result in an audible ERB alert,
Staff will receive email notification with action steps and an accountability link.
Which side of the email notification form should you fill out?
Both! Right side- check the box next to your name.
Left side- Check the box next to your space, add other adults in the room with you and note any relevant issues.
