What types of incidents would cause a Code B to be called?

Nearby bank robbery with gunman not captured; police chase in area; gunshots in area; school shooting at a location very close to the clinic (Spartanburg).

Emergency doorbell is pushed and/or Code C/Lockdown Red is called in a very loud, clear voice.

What do you do if you see a weapon either on a client or on a caregiver?

Ask them to take the weapon outside. 

If they are attempting to use it as a weapon, move away from or behind them. Notify management and provide as many details as possible. Do not attempt to disarm. Management will call 911 when appropriate.

What should you do if you hear a Code A called?

If you can safely leave your position, move to assist the employee who called the code.

All staff, patients, caregivers, and visitors are to move to the interior of the building.

Unlocked.

Notify management and fill out an incident report.

What should you do if someone attempts to pick up a child and you don't know who they are?

Ask individual for identification. Then confirm information in CT - this individual should be listed as an emergency contact, listed as someone that information can be released to, or parent notified staff that another individual was picking up the child.

The staff member who called the Code A. This person should advise other staff members of their needs.

Locked.

What should you do in a Code C?

Hide or get out of the building! If having to hide, lock doors, barricade doors, turn off lights, stay out of sight, and stay quiet.

What acronym do you use when operating a fire extinguisher?

PASS - Pull the pin, Alert through 911, Confine, Extinguish. Never try to extinguish a fire that is larger than a wastebasket.

What are you responsible for in the event of an evacuation?

All staff - Turn off as much electrical equipment as possible. Close doors when room is empty.

Therapists - Grab laptops if able.

Front Office - Grab Emergency Binder. Can only release patients to know individuals.

Should you keep your current patient in the treatment room during a Code A?

Yes. Management/Senior Staff will notify other team members of the Code A. Patients are to remain in current rooms with therapists until all clear is given.

Management gives the all clear.

Who is the leader in a Code C?

There isn't really one because of the nature of the event. If able, contact 911 but don't risk your safety. It is sadly an "All men/women for themselves situation" until emergency services arrive.
