How often do we have fire drills?
Once a month when the building is occupied.
In what situation should you press one of the pretty colorful buttons on the Raptor Alert home screen?
If there is a real emergency and you are the first to be aware of it.
Example: you see something is on fire, and no one else is around.
You've known a parent for 20 years. For whatever reason, you find yourself covering the front office alone. Should you ask to see their ID before dismissing the child to them?
Yep.
Where will you find your location for a shelter in place emergency?
In your emergency folder.
You've known a parent for 1000 years, and you're related to them. They don't have the dismissal card for their child. Should you dismiss them to the parent?
Nope.
What should you take with you in the event of an emergency?
Emergency folder and classroom safety kit.
Do subs and staff members with multiple campuses get our Raptor Alerts?
Subs do not. Other staff members might depending on the number of campuses they serve.
The fire alarm goes off. You exit the building with your students and do a head count. You have one child missing, but you KNOW they are with Ms. Nungaray, although you do not have eyes on them. Which card do you hold up?
Red
In what situation should you remove the emergency exit map from the wall just inside your classroom?
You shouldn't.
It's the end of the year. You're moving classrooms next year. What should you do with your safety kit and emergency folder?
LEAVE THEM IN YOUR ROOM :)
They are assigned to the room, not the teacher or section.
After evacuating the building, you're unsure if your situation warrants a red or yellow card. Which do you hold up?
Either. Err on the side of caution. Either one will direct a member of the safety team to you. They can help you with your situation. You can always put up green again, if it gets figured out.
What is the only way to communicate about which students are accounted for in the event of a lockdown?

What is the main difference between Secure and Lockdown?
Secure - threat is outside the building.
Lockdown - threat is inside the building.
What should you do if you are missing a map or item from your safety kit?
Tell Ms. Allison and watch her write it down, so she doesn't forget.
The fire alarm goes off. Your kids are in specials. What should you do?
Grab your safety kit (if available), exit through the nearest exit, go find your kids and account for them. Walk them to the church.
What should you do if one of your grade level team members is absent during an emergency?
Quickly let the sub know where things are and how to use the lock block in the morning. Guide them to shelter or evacuation areas as needed.
You're outside after evacuating the building. You don't have your emergency folder for whatever reason. You're missing a child. What should you do?
Use another teacher's red card or flag down a member of the safety team.
What is the duct tape in your emergency kit for?
Sealing the room in the event of a Hazmat Shelter in Place emergency.
You see a small fire and decide to use the fire extinguisher. Where should your back be facing at all times while attempting to extinguish the fire?
Toward the exit. You don't want to risk the fire spreading and blocking you from being able to exit.
You send a kid to the clinic. Ms. Allison sends them back to pick up their things because they are going home. You send them back to the clinic. Two hours later, the fire alarm goes off. Which card from your safety folder are you going to hold up?
Red. Regardless of how long it's been, you don't know for certain the child is not still in the building. Hold up the red, a safety team member will come to you, and check with Ms. Allison if the child was already dismissed or not.
If you have Raptor Alert on your computer and not your phone, will you hear the alarm sound?
You will not.
For whatever reason, after an evacuation, you find yourself with extra students who are not on your class roster at that time. What color card should you hold up?
Yellow

The CEOP (Campus Emergency Operations Plan) located in the front office. A 77 page document updated and submitted to the district each year by the safety coordinator.
There is an acronym to simplify the use of a fire extinguisher. It is P.A.S.S. What does it stand for?
P - Pull the pin
A - Aim at the base of the fire
S - Squeeze the trigger
S - Sweep back and forth until the fire is out
