In this story, the angel of death is sent to kill the firstborn son of all the Egyptians as the final sign to pharaoh that the Hebrew people need to be set free from slavery in Egypt. The Hebrew people avoid this punishment by putting lamb's blood on their doors and eating the sacrifical lamb together. This is celebrated as a great Jewish feast every year and was the feast that was happening when Jesus died on the cross for us.

This saint was martyred in Auschwitz concentration camp during World War 2. He was a Franciscan priest who was arrested for protecting Jews. While he was in the concentration camp, 10 people were being killed as punishment for someone escaping and the last man cried out for his family. This saint took his place and died for him.
