NCLEX- Can someone enter with a cross as jewelry? Explain your answer... Can anyone else come in with jewelry that is wider than 1/4"?

NCLEX may wear religious jewelry, but if it is bigger than regulations state- a case must be made and item must be visually inspected.

Others should not be going in with jewelry, hair bands, broaches etc... (permanent jewelry can be inspected, and a case made if larger than 1/4".)

Do we immediately turn someone away if they show up after their appointment time? Why

No. It depends on the circumstances...give a few examples.

What are 3 things we have to write next to someone's name on the proctor's roster?

1- the time they were seated 

2-the seat number

3- case number (if a case was created)

All are helpful in case of power issues or any other problems that might pop up later.

What do we do if we realize that someone was given the wrong rules when they came into the waiting room.

Apologize, and give them the correct rules to look over.

"Sign Out"

"Switch User"/"Windows L"

"Sign Out"- for shift changes- otherwise the computers will not shut down properly at the end of the night, which means computers will not update.

"Switch User"/"Windows L"- When stepping away from a computer that you are coming right back to. Never leave the computer logged on when you are not present.

No.

Is a military ID valid for all exams?

No, you need to look it up. Some tests allow it and some don't.

No, If we need more then 1 item, we always put them into the same case.

When we are reading the testing room rules to the candidate, do we point at each rule?

Yes, we point at each rule as we are reading them to the candidate.

If a candidate walks in to test, he or she speaks another language, and has a hard time understanding you or vice versa, do we automatically turn them away?

No, We try our best, and if needed use the new placards for Spanish speaking candidates, but, if they cannot understand anything, then we will turn them away.

If a person has their coat, earrings, rings, hair clip... lying on their desk, what do we do?

Go into the testing room and make sure the item is removed from the desk. Make a case if you need to explain what happened.

If a NCSBN has a Primary ID that has a different last name due to marriage, and they show you the marriage documents, do we have to create a case?

No, but only you must follow the protocol in the NCSBN rules. Otherwise, remember that NCLEX candidates must follow the "bookends" rule.

If someone comes in to test with accommodations, do we need to do anything else?

Yes, always make the comment in service direct, as to whether the candidate completed the exam or not.

What are the correct procedures for checking in someone for an ICC exam?

at Admin 1- have candidate hold book upside down- no sticky notes or loose papers 2- all tabs must be permanent (if removed they will rip the page)at Proctor review the book before and after test remind candidate not to write in the book

Is it okay to email your manager on a day that you are scheduled to work, but, you are not able to make it in?

Call or text your manager as early as possible, if you even suspect that you might not make a shift. Do your best to get coverage for your shift on your own.

When escorting the candidates in and out of the testing room, do we have the candidate carry in and out their own note boards etc.?

No. It plainly states on the note boards that removing an erasable note board from the testing area is an act of misconduct. We always carry in the supplies needed for their exam ourselves.

If  a candidate walks in and tells you that they have Covid, do we allow them to test, and if not, what do we do?

Call the call center or a TCM to let them know about the situation. Then, create a case with the details.

When a candidate leaves after testing, and you notice that their chair is soiled, what do you do?

Remember, always check out the desk, computer, and chair for damage/evidence of cheating as you follow a candidate out towards the proctor station. If there is damage, always create a case.

What do we do if a candidate gets up, without being escorted, and attempts to walk to the proctor station.

Candidate should be redirected back towards their seat. They should also be reminded that they are not to leave their seat without an escort. If it happens more than once during a testing time you need to make a case.

Someone comes in with a driver's license that is not expired, but it is clipped on the corner. Can they test?

No. A clipping invalidates an ID.

If you need to create a case, and Service Direct is down, what do you do?

Keep trying, and document the details for the case, so later you or the next person coming in, can create the case, either that day, or the next day.

If an NCLEX candidate uses more than 3 boards they must be scanned and attached to a case in service direct.
