Seeing students, especially black and brown students connect with history in empowering ways and sparking a love for history in them

Earned a BA degree in history with a minor in education from UCLA, passed the CSET, and completed a teacher preparation program while in school.

How is your performance measured?
Through state and district standardized testing, classroom observations, student feedback, and student comprehension of lessons.

Patience,passion for teaching and willingness to learn and adapt teaching methods.

De-emphasizing standardized testing and integrating technology into teaching
What do you find the most surprising about your role?
Taking on multiple roles beyond teaching such as mentor and counselor and helping students understand the value of history despite initial resistance.

History and social studies courses, education courses, and public speaking
