Define what clustering is in your own words! (You can do this ;-)
Clustering is when multiple plots are in a certain area or gathered around a certain value!
What are outliers?
Outliers are values that lie outside most of the other values in a set of data or are much smaller or larger than the other values.
What is positive association? Give detail!
Positive association is when two points on a graph are trending upwards where the point on the left is less than the point on the right!
What is negative association? Explain!
Negative association is when two points on a graph are trending downwards where the point on the left is more than the point on the right!
What does Linear and Nonlinear mean??? Explain in detail!!!
Linear means to be arranged in or extending along a straight or nearly straight line. On the other hand, nonlinear means to be not linear, or not straight. This means the line will have curves or bends.
Is this picture an example of clustering? Explain why or why not!
YES! This is clustering because the plots are gathered together near the point (1,100)!
Are there any outliers in this graph? Tell me whyyy!!!!
NOOO!!! There are not any outliers in this graph because all of the data plots are very similar so none of them are a lot larger or smaller than the other plots.
Does this graph have positive association? Explain why!
Yesss!!! This graph does have positive association because the points are trending in an upwards direction!!!
Does this graph have negative association? Explain why!
Yesss!!! This graph does have negative association because the points are trending in an downwards direction!!!
Is this graph Linear and Nonlinear??? Explain why!!
This graph is linear because the line has no curves or bends in it and it is straight.
NOW! Is THIS clustering?!?!? TELL ME WHYYYY!!!
NOOOOOO!!!! This is not clustering because the plots are not gathered in a certain area and are, instead, more evenly spread out.
What are the outliers in this graph? Tell me whyyy!
The outliers in this data are (30, 6,000) because it is outside of the trend line or much higher than the other plots.
Does this graph have positive association? Explain why!
Nooo!!! This graph does not have positive association because the points have no trend so there is no association!!!
Does this graph have negative association? Explain why!
Nooo!!! This graph does not have negative association because the points have no trend so there is no association!!!
Is this graph Linear and Nonlinear??? Tell me why in detail!!
This graph is nonlinear because the line has multiple curves and bends in it, so it is not straight.
Does this table about the baby's gender and when they were born show clustering? Explain why?
Yes! This table shows clustering because all of the babies were born in the year of 2010.
What are the outliers in this set of data?25,29,3,32,85,33,27, and 28? Explain!!!
The outliers in that set of data are 3 and 85 because they are either much larger or much smaller than the other numbers.
Does this table have positive association? Explain why or why not???
Yes; because the data has a trend that keeps on increasing!!!
Does this table have negative association? Explain why or why not???
Yes; because the data has a trend that keeps on decreasing!!!
Is this table linear or not linear!?!? Explain why in detail!!!
This table is linear because the slope of the table is the same for every set of data!!!
What is the distribution of the clustering in this graph about Alejandro's sleep schedule? Explain!!!
The distribution of the clustering in this graph about Alejandro's sleep schedule is 7 to 9 because the dots are gathered around 7,8, and 9.
Are there any outliers in this graph? Explain why (in detail)!!!!
Yes!!! The outlier in this graph is the yellow point describing that a 12-year-old became widowed which is an outlier because it is the only point that is much lower than all of the other points!!!
Does this table have positive association? Explain why or why not???
No; this table does not have positive association because the data has no trend so all of the data does not have a trend!!!
Does this table have negative association? Explain why or why not???
No; this table does not have negative association because the data has no trend so all of the data does not have a trend!!!
Is this table linear or not linear!?!? Explain why in detail!!!
This table is nonlinear because the slope of the table is different for the majority of the sets of data!!! Also, the equation for the data is nonlinear!!!
