This is where almost ALL of your work will be accessed unless we are using a specific program.

Go to the office to get a tardy slip.

How do you get your group to work together?

By taking turns talking and sharing.

**Group work is graded on participation, that means EVERYONE has to participate!

Where do I turn in assignments?

Canvas. 

There will be times we have paper assignments, There will be a designated space for each period to turn in paper assignments.

Where do 6th grade students go during break?

BOYS - front of the building. 

GIRLS - down our hallway and to the walkway. 

**If it is raining, they will announce inside break. On these days, we will remain in the classroom but you may go to the restroom, office, etc. as needed.

How many people is considered a group?

2 or more people.

What will Mrs. Hefner do to get the whole class' attention?

Call and Response:

Mrs. Hefner's call: "Hakuna"

Class Response: "Matata"

**If it is serious, the song will follow :)

After "Hakuna Matata", you should be sitting quietly, hands on desk, and looking directly at me.

When can I use the bathroom?

Before Class. Between Classes. Break. Lunch.

If it is an EMERGENCY, you may raise your hand during class and ask.

What if I am absent, where do I get assignments?

Canvas/Absent Folder. 

There are absent folders hanging by the door. If you are absent, CHECK CANVAS. There may be assignments that you can do while you are out and not get behind!

When you come back, CHECK THE FOLDER for the days you were out. This is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

What happens if you break a rule?

Warning.

When will groups be used?

All the time!

We will work in groups often in this class. You will always be told when working in a group and how large the group will be (usual group sizes are 2-5 people, depending on the task)

What kind of food or drinks can students have in class?

No food unless it is a special occasion stated by Mrs. Hefner. You may have a drink if it is in a container with a lid (no open cups, no cans).

When can I sharpen my pencil?

Raise your pencil in the air, I will call on you and you may sharpen your pencil. 

**There is a hand-turn sharpener on the wall by the front desk and an automatic sharpener on Mrs. Hefner's desk.

How are assignments graded?

Rubric. 

You will always be given clear guidelines for an assignment or project. You MUST go by these guidelines if you want a good grade! 

I am here to HELP YOU! If you have a problem, ASK! If you don't understand, ASK! If you need help, ASK!!! My goal is for you to be the BEST student that you can be!

How do students get sent to NASTUC?

By fighting.

There is a ZERO tolerance policy for fighting.

It's NOT worth it!

If you have a problem with another student, tell a teacher!!

What does a good working group look like?

They are sharing, helping, and encouraging others and getting the work or project done.

**STAY ON TASK. Remember, your group work is graded on participation. If someone in your group gets off-topic, kindly remind them of the task. If a problem continues, raise your hand.

What do we do if we have to leave the class?

Go to the "Where Are We" board. 

Find your number and move it to where you are going. 

SIGN THE SIGN OUT SHEET.

If we leave the classroom, how do we line up?

In NUMBER order. 

QUIETLY. 

**This is great practice incase of an emergency, so this must always be done quickly, quietly, and calmly.

What kind of noise will working in group sound like?

Students talking quietly but not disrupting others.

*ONLY your group members should be able to hear your discussion. Remember, everyone in the class is working in their group, all groups need to be able to hear their group members!
