A WOLF CALLED WANDER
“Mommy, what does that say?” asked her little girl, who was clutching a stuffed toy dog by its bedraggled tail. The mother didn’t answer. “Mommy?” They crossed the lawn. The mother stepped close to me. “It says ‘LEAVE,’” she finally said. NTB

Across the pond, one of the dirt-bike riders comes to the edge of the water, looking directly at us. He raises his arm and points wildly. Then they zoom into the woods ahead of the flames. NTB

Plantation owners in the South grew many different kinds of crops, which they could sell for money. Two of the most popular were cotton and tobacco. NTB
WHO WAS HARRIET TUBMAN
Before the Germans had arrived, dozens of trucks had sped away from the museum with the most important works of art. No one knew where the Mona Lisa was hiding. She made a fist. How she hated the war. It had scared all the art away from the city. NTB

An eruption that is a bit more volatile is a Strombolian eruption. Stromboli has been active consistently for over 2,000 years. NTB

Turtle tracks was the game I made up three months ago, where you ride your bike as slow as possible without coming to a stop. It was the opposite of racing. NTB

“I want to take a photo of the view here, like I did of the mountain at Home Number Two,” he said. I look at the photos on his dresser and he points out his band, his grandmother and his mom. She has red hair, just like his. I sure hope she comes to the show. He would be devastated if she’s not there. NTB

THREE GOOD DEEDS
For me, listening to the radios was never the point. Each one of those sitting on my shelves was a reminder of something I’d done right. They weren’t working until I got my hands into them. Whenever I fixed something, I felt like I’d won a contest. NTB

His dad found a sports medicine expert to give a second opinion on his son’s injury in hopes that he will be cleared to play football. They will find a way to bring it up to his mother once they get the all-clear. NTB

It’s important that the other kids not know the real reason I’m here. If you could yell a little, they would assume I did some incredibly brave and daring though technically against-the-rules-thing, and not that we’re working together to solve this horrible crime. NTB
THE REAL MCCOYS
He pricked his ears forward and listened beyond the night sounds he had grown accustomed to. He heard mutterings, grumblings, rumblings, and whimpering from many unfamiliar, overlapping voices. They came from the Central Park Zoo. NTB
A PUP CALLED TROUBLE
