Freeze when the first whistle blows. Walk to your morning dot when the second whistle blows.
100

I am Safe I am Kind I am Respectful I am Responsible

Why do we have the rule "keep your hands off of the walls when walking in the hallways"?
Kids leave dirt on the walls when they touch them; the student work on display can get damaged by hands touching it.
200
How many paper towels do you need to dry your hands?
Please use just one paper towel (save a tree!)
200

Why is it important to close up your milk container before throwing it away in the trash?

We close our milk container so that any milk left in the container does not spill all over the floor when the custodian lifts the bag out of the trash can.

You are walking back to your class after getting your latest World Series of Reading book and you see 2 younger kids running in the hallways. What do you say to them?
In a respectful tone of voice you can say, "Please remember our school rule is to walk in the hallways. Remember - leaders follow the rules even when no one is watching."
300
What does respectful behavior look like in the bathroom?
* No playing around * Do your business - wash your hands - clean up your mess * No peeking under the stalls * Go directly to the bathroom and back to class *Do not purposely cause plumbing problems

Raise your hand and an adult helper will give you a ketchup packet. Please remember to use your manners when asking for help/assistance. Please & Thank you are really important!
300
Why do we not allow running on the blacktop?
Kids tend to trip and fall when they run. If you fall on the blacktop you will get hurt. There are also a LOT of kids playing on the blacktop - not enough room for everyone to run around safely.
300
What does voice level 1 sound like?
whisper voice
400
You are walking in your class line in the hallway and one of your classmates "cuts" in front of you. You don't like this at all! Which Kelso choice do you use?
You choose to ignore it for the moment because you don't want to get into trouble for talking in the hallway. You realize it is a small problem (you are all going to the same place anyways). Later you talk it out with the kid who cut in front of you and you tell him that you did not like it and ask him to not do this again.
400
Your class is taking a "class restroom break". What are the expectations for your behavior in the hallway while you are waiting for your class?
* Voice level of 0 or 1 * Hands and feet to your self * Keep hands and feet off of the walls
400
Why is it important to walk in your grade level lines up to the blacktop for recess? Why aren't you allowed to run up the ramp?
Safety first! We need to make sure that everyone is safe at school. You can run on the field - but walk on the blacktop.
400

Sit on your bottom. Go DOWN the slide (do not run UP the slide) One person at a time.
400
What does responsible behavior look like at the end of the day for dismissal?
* Cleaning up my work area/floor/desk * Lining up with my class * Following my teacher's directions * Keeping my hands/feet to myself * Walking with my class in a line * Using appropriate voice level in halls
500
It is the end of the day, the bell rang, and your class lines up for dismissal. Kids are really excited for the end of the day and they want to run through the hallways to get home as soon as possible. What are the expectations in the hallway for dismissal?
Even though it is the end of the day, we still need to follow the expectations of voice level 0 or 1 and walk in a line with your class to your dismissal area. We need to make sure everyone is safe at the end of the day.
500
You walk into the bathroom and notice that one of the toilets is flooding and water is spilling onto the floor. What do you do?
* Report the problem immediately to the nearest adult.
500
You sit down to eat your cold lunch and you realize your mom packed you a sardine sandwich again. You want to trade your sandwich for your friend's peanut butter sandwich. Is this allowed at school?
No trading food at school. You need to eat the lunch you brought to school. We cannot allow sharing/trading food at school because of food allergies.
500
You are playing 4 square and the judge calls you "out". You don't think you are "out". What is the proper way to handle this situation?
Remember that judges are not "perfect" and sometimes they make bad calls. Listen to the judge and get out and go to the end of the line. Do not argue and make a big deal out of it - that just wastes recess time and makes everyone mad. Remember you can always just go to another game.
500
Why is it important to be on time for the morning ceremony?
*It is a time to synergize with my whole school. * Important information is shared with the school. * Birthdays are announced. *WIGs are announced. * It is important to start my day off on a positive note.
