force and motion
What is a force?
A push or pull acting upon an object as a result of its interaction with another object.
What is motion?
A change in an object's position relative to a reference frame.
How are force, mass, and acceleration related F=ma
Force is the product of mass and acceleration. More force causes more acceleration, while more mass requires more force to accelerate the same amount.
What are balanced vs. unbalanced forces?
Balanced forces are equal in size and opposite in direction, resulting in no motion change (net force = 0). Unbalanced forces cause acceleration.
What is friction?
A force that opposes motion between two surfaces touching, caused by microwelds.
