What is the diffrence between a dwarf planet and a planet

Dwarf planets share many characteristics that planets do fo example they are all most perfectly round or spherical in shape they orbit the sun and they are not satellites. However dwarf planets cannot clear their orbit. This is why all dwarf planets are located inside the astroid belt or the Kuiper Belt they cannot clear the space rocks around them like full planets can
