What are the things in a system?

Input, Process, Output (extra points if said feedback and flow)

100

What are the types of KE, and the new types of PE?

KE: Sound, Thermal, Electric, and Electromagnetic

PE: Electric and Nuclear

100

What are the 3 types of heat transfer.

Conduction, Convection, and Radiation

100

Types of Non-Renewable

Oil, coal, and natural gas.

200

What are some PE’s

GPE,EPE, and CPE

200

How do you get energy from nuclear energy?

Fission and Fusion

200

Temperature vs Thermal Energy

Temperature, the total energy in all of an objects particles.

Thermal, the average degree of energy of an object.

200

Types of Renewable.

Solar, wind, nuclear, hydro, geothermal, and biomass.

300

What is the difference between Transfer and Transform?

Transfer, object to object or location to location.

Transformation, the change of energy from one form to another in different objects.

300

How to find MKE?

PE+KE

300

What are the three types of temperature energy.

Metric/Celsius, American/Fahrenheit, Science/Kelvin

300

How is coal formed, and how is oil and natural gas form?

Coal is formed by dead plants, and oil and gas is both dead plants and animals, and is formed from lots of heat and pressure from being buried underground, forming coal, oil, or natural gas.

400

The pendulum is in the middle of swinging down, how much GPE and KE does it have and what energy is it gaining?

It had equal GPE and KE, and is gaining KE.

400

Describe whether this is an energy transfer or an energy transformation?

Hearing music from another room across the house.

This is an energy transfer since the sound energy is going from one room to another.

400

Which has more thermal energy? An iceberg or a lot match?

The iceberg because it has way more particles, and thermal energy is the energy of all the particles in an object.

400

Non-Renewable vs Renewable

Renewable get replenished in a persons lifetime, and non-renewable takes thousands and thousands of years to form.

500

What is the equation for both KE and PE

KE=1/2xMxH

PE=MxGxH

500

What slows down something with KE and why?

Friction slows an object down because of the friction of the object and the air particles, making the objet release heat and lose energy. Gravity pulls down an object and slows it down when it is on a flat surface since the gravity is pulling it in towards earth.

500

Why is my foot cold when I step on tile but not on carpet?

This is because tile is a conductor so it absorbs heat, so when your foot is one the ground, the heat from your foot is conducted to the tile, making your foot cold. Carpet is an insulator, which keeps heat in, so the heat from your foot doesn’t conduct to the carpet, it stays in your foot.

500

Energy types vs resource

An energy resources are the ways to get energy.

An energy type is the type of energy something has.
