what side effects can clouds produce?

liquid, foggy, shade, storm

100

scavengers

Scavengers are animals that consume dead organisms that have died from causes other than predation or have been killed by other predators.

100

water cycle

The water cycle shows the continuous movement of water within the Earth and atmosphere. It is a complex system that includes many different processes. Liquid water evaporates into water vapor, condenses to form clouds, and precipitates back to earth in the form of rain and snow.

100

What is a biome?

A biome is an area classified according to the species that live in that location.

200

Is fog dangerous for boating?

Yes, because if your boating out in the fog and someone is supposed to be looking out for you; they won't be able too see you because of how heavy the fog is and you won't be able to see where you are.

200

consumers

an organism that cannot produce its own food and must eat other plants and/or animals to get energy.

200

carbon cycle

The carbon cycle is nature's way of reusing carbon atoms, which travel from the atmosphere into organisms in the Earth and then back into the atmosphere over and over again. Most carbon is stored in rocks and sediments, while the rest is stored in the ocean, atmosphere, and living organisms.

200

How many biomes are there?

5

300

what can cause heavy rain?

When more moisture-laden air moves over land or converges into a storm system, it can produce more intense precipitation—for example, heavier rain and snow storms.

300

producers

an organism that creates its own food or energy

300

oxygen cycle

The entire cycle can be summarized as, the oxygen cycle begins with the process of photosynthesis in the presence of sunlight, releases oxygen back into the atmosphere, which humans and animals breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide, and again linking back to the plants.

300

Name the five biomes.

aquatic, grassland, forest, desert, and tundra

400

How is snow formed?

Snow is precipitation that forms when water vapor freezes. It is not frozen rain, but a crystallization of ice that typically forms in clouds. When temperatures drop below 0°C (32°F) and there is sufficient humidity in the atmosphere, water vapor condenses directly into ice without going through the liquid stage.

400

energy pyramid

a model that shows the flow of energy from one trophic, or feeding, level to the next in an ecosystem.

400

nitrogen cycle

Nitrogen Cycle is a biogeochemical process through which nitrogen is converted into many forms, consecutively passing from the atmosphere to the soil to organism and back into the atmosphere. It involves several processes such as nitrogen fixation, nitrification, denitrification, decay and putrefaction.

400

What biome do most fish live in?

water

500

When does it not rain?

When precipitation is low.

500

food chain

a series of organisms that eat one another so that energy and nutrients flow from one to the next.

500

What is precipitation?

Precipitation is any liquid or frozen water that forms in the atmosphere and falls back to the earth.
