What are magnets?
A magnet is a piece of metal with a strong attraction to another metal object. The attraction a magnet produces is called a "magnetic field."
In a magnet, where is the magnet field the weakest?
At the center of the magnet, away from the north pole and south poles.
What is the north pole of a magnet?
The north pole of a magnet is the pole out of which magnetic lines of force point
What is mass?
Mass is a measurement of how much matter is in an object. Mass is a combination of the total number of atoms, the density of the atoms, and the type of atoms in an object.
What is the south pole of a magnet?
The south pole is the pole into which the magnet lines of force point.
What is density?
Density measures the mass of an object or substance compared to its volume. The equation we use to find density is: density = mass / volume.
Which poles in a magnet attract and which poles in a magnet repel?
Opposites attract and the same repel. North pole attracts south pole. North pole and north pole repel. South pole and South pole repel.
In the hot and cold water experiment, why did the two types of waters mix when the cold water was on top of the hot water but not the other way around?
Cold water has higher water density than hot water. When the cold water is on top of the hot water, the cold water will sink into the hot water, thereby causing the two liquids to mix. Hot water is less dense than cold water. When the hot water is on top of the cold water, the hot water will remain floating without mixing because the hot water does not have enough water density to sink into the more dense cold water.
In a magnet, where is the magnet field the strongest?
At the two ends of the poles, at the north pole and south pole.
