A group of organisms that can mate with each other and produce fertile offspring
What are the two types of observations? And which involves with numbers/amounts

What is classifying?
The process of grouping things based on their similarities
What are the next two steps?
2. label on x-axis with units (variable that you changed -- independent variable)
3. label on y-axis with units (variable that you measure after change -- dependent variable)
What are living things classified based on? Why do we classify them?
Shared traits.... to better understand how living things are related to each other
What is making models?
The process of creating representations of complex objects or processes
If you are heating substances or carrying something dangerous/hot what should you do?
Point/keep away from other people (be mindful of your surroundings)
What is observing? And what are the five senses you use when observing?
The process of using one or more of your senses to gather information... touch, smell, taste, hearing, vision
What are the following two steps after that?
4. Units on the x-axis ... start with zero at the origin and the values must include all the data collected
5. Units on the y-axis ... continuous with equal variables between them!
What is a scientific name?
All identified species are given a unique two word name
The first name is Genus name, and is followed by species name
What is a taxonomy?
the science and practice of classifying and naming things, such as organisms, objects, or concepts, into hierarchical groups based on shared characteristics
What is the prep for lab work?

Study procedures prior to class, never perform unauthorized experiments, keep lab bench organized, know how to use eye wash and first aid kit, listen and follow all instructions in pre-lab discussion
What is inferring?
The process of making an inference, an interpretation based on observations and prior knowledge
What is the sixth and final step? And what are the three types of graphs (bonus if you can say what type of data they are for)
Actual plotting -- line graph (quantitative data), bar graph (qualitative data), pie chart (qualitative data)
Give me four characteristics of living things
Composed of one or more cell, need energy to carry out living functions, respond to their environment, grow and develop, reproduce, maintain a stable internal environment (homeostasis)
Give me an example of a type of inference... and give me the definition of this type of inference
Prediction - The process of forecasting what will happen based on past experience or evidence
When diluting acid, what are the rules?
What is a scale model?
A model that accurately shows the proportions between its parts
What is the line of best fit?
It shows the trend by all the data taken as a whole
What are the three domains of life? (hint: based on the type of cell of the organism)
Bonus!! Tell me if they have/ do not have a nucleus
Bacteria (cells do not contain a nucleus), Archaea (cells do not contain a nucleus, they have a different cell wall from bacteria), Eukarya (cells do contain a nucleus)
