What are the eight steps of the scientific method?

Question, Research, Hypothesis, Experiment, Collect data, Analyze, Conclusion, Report

100

How many variables are there?

THREE

100

What is Matter?

Anything that has mass and takes up space.

100

What is Kinetic energy? What is Potential energy?

Kinetic energy is motion energy.

Potential energy is stored energy.

100

What is our school's mascot?

Sliverhawks

200

During this part of the scientific method, you will state if your hypothesis is wrong or right and share it with the world.

Report

200

What are the three variables?

Independent, Dependent, Controlled

200

What are the three states matter can be found in?

solid, liquid, gas

200

The amount of kinetic energy depends on an object's....?

mass and speed
200

What are the SOAR 4?

Be respectful, be responsible, be safe, and be kind

300

During this part of the scientific method, you will design something to prove if your hypothesis is correct.

Experiment

300

Describe each variable

Independent: changed

Dependent: measured

Controlled: stays the same

300

What is it called when a gas turns into a liquid?

Condensation

300

The more potential energy something has depends on what...?

mass and height
300

Where is Mr. Patao from?

Philippines

400

How is a Hypothesis written?

Using an IF and THEN statement.

Smithers thinks that a special juice will increase the productivity of workers. He creates two groups of 50 workers each and assigns each group the same task (in this case, they're supposed to staple a set of papers). Group A is given the special juice to drink while they work. Group B is not given the special juice. After an hour, Smithers counts how many stacks of papers each group has made. Group A made 1,587 stacks, Group B made 2,113 stacks.

Identify the three variables?

Independent Variable: Smither’s special Juice

Dependent Variable: Productivity of workers

Controlled: Group that didn’t drink the juice

400

What is it called when a liquid turns into a gas?

Evaporation

400

Energy cannot be created or destroyed but is can be....?

Transferred to another object or changed into another form of energy

400

What is Mrs. Busch's little baby's name?

Brody

500

What is the scientific method?

The steps you take to answer a question within science.

Homer notices that his shower is covered in a strange green slime. His friend Barney tells him that coconut juice will get rid of the green slime. Homer decides to check this out by spraying half of the shower with coconut juice. He sprays the other half of the shower with water. After 3 days of "treatment" there is no change in the appearance of the green slime on either side of the shower

Identify the three variables.

Independent Variable: Use of coconut juice

Dependent Variable: Amount of green slime

Control Group: The part of the shower that is sprayed with water.

500

Name all the parts of an atom.

Nucleus, Protons, Neutrons, Electrons.

500

Give an example of potential energy being transferred or changed into kinetic energy.

Answers may vary.
