It is the first step in the scientific method.
What is The Recognition of the Problem?
The two types of observations.
What are Quantitative and Qualitative?
This is the step of the scientific method where you predict a possible answer to a problem or a question
What is Step #3 (Hypothesis)?
What are Independent and Dependent?
These are the names of Mr. Height's 2 dogs at home.
What are Waylon and Hank?
This is the step of the scientific method where you learn more about the problem.
What is Background Research?
This type of observation is measureable.
What is Quantitative?
It is missing from the following hypothesis: Putting my plant in the closet will decrease it's chance of living.
What is... "If" and "Then" and "Because"
The variable that is measured & observed in an experiment.
What is the Dependent Variable?
This step of the scientific method involves researchers looking at their information to draw conclusions about their experiments.
What is Analyze Data/Results?
This is the step in the scientific method where you make careful observations and write down what happens.
What is Experiment/Collecting Data?
This type of observation is describable.
What is Qualitative?
This is a good hypothesis for the research question: "How does drinking more milk affect the strength of your bones?"
What is...If you increase the amount of milk you drink, then you will increase the strength of your bones, because milk is a good source of calcium and calcium helps strengthen bones.
The variable that is manipulated to conduct a proper experiment, often having multiple conditions.
What is the Independent Variable?
This is the name of the blue/green salt we used in the first week of class.
In this step of the scientific method, you present your experiment, observations and conclusions to others.
What is Summary?
Blue, rough, metal are all examples of what type of observation.
What is Qualitative?
This is a good hypothesis for the research question: "How do the amount of cigarettes you smoke affect your chances of getting lung cancer?"
What is...If you increase the number of cigarettes you smoke, then you will increase your chance of getting lung cancer, because cigarettes are a carcinogen.
The standard condition that is used as a comparison to determine if change has occurred.
What is the Control?
What are... the people consuming zero caffeine?
This is a list of the seven steps of the scientific method.
What is Nature of the Problem, Background Research (and Question), Hypothesis, Plan Experiment/Method, Collect Data, Analysis, Summary & New Questions?
4 metres long with 24 buttons are both examples of what type of observation.
What is Quantitative?
This is a good hypothesis for the following experiment: I am doing a test to see if there is a connection between how long you run and how fast your heart beats. I will be performing an experiment where a person will run for a 1 minute and I will check their heartbeat. Then they will run for 2 minutes and I will check their heart rate. I will do this up to 6 minutes and see if there is a connection.
What is... If I increase the amount of time I run, then my heartrate will increase, because my heart needs to pump more oxygenated blood to my muscles.
These are the IV and the DV in the following hypothesis: If you increase the number of practice free throw shots, then you will decrease the amount of baskets you miss.
What are practice free throw shots (IV) and baskets missed (DV)?
Who is Archimedes
