how do you tie two half hitches

  1. Wrap the rope’s working end around a support, like a pole or a post.

  2. Pass the working end over the top of the standing end.

  3. Pass the working end through the loop and pull tight to create a half hitch.

  4. To make the second half hitch, bring the working end of the rope back around and over the standing end of the rope.

  5. Pull tightly to complete the knot. Note: It’s important that you tie the second Half Hitch in the same direction as the first.

What is a rank and how do you rank up

Rank is a physical representation of a scout's skills that they have learned while trying to complete that rank and how you earn rank is by learning skills and showing that you are proficient in those skills.

how do you tie taut-line hitch and how do you use the taut-line hitch 

  1. Make a turn around a post or object several feet from the free end of the rope.


  2. Coil the free end twice around the standing line, working back toward the post.


  3. Make one additional coil around the standing line on the outside of the previous coils.


  4. Tighten the knot and slide it on the standing line to adjust tension.


    • Loop around the support (post, stake, etc.).

    • Wrap the end around the standing part of the rope.

    • Wrap it again.

    • Hold and pull to tighten.

    • Slide to adjust the tension.

 Life Rank-

Second highest rank- Continues to focus on leadership and Merit Badges. You earn by complete the requirements in your scout book and going to a bord of review

 Eagle Rank-

The highest rank in Scouting, it is the hardest rank to earn, it includes merit badges and the well known Eagle Project. You earn by complete the requirements in your scout book and going to a eagle bord of review

  • Never pass an open knife to someone else.
  • Don't treat a pocket knife as a toy.
  • Check your knife for rust, damage, or broken parts before using it.
  • Practice safe usage.
  • Clean the knife after each use.
  • Exercise safety when closing the pocket knife.

how do you whip a rope


  • Lay the twine against the rope and wrap the long end around the rope about 8 turns.

  • Make a bight in the short end.

  • Wrap the long end about 8 more times around both the rope and the bight.

  • On the final turn pass the long end through the bight.

  • Pull the short end to hide and secure the long one.

  • Trim the ends off.
    Alternatively, you can tie half-knots around the rope's end, or wrap the twine around the rope and bight of twine securely. You can use twine, string, or dental floss to whip the rope.

how do you fuse rope

  1. Grab your frayed rope and a lighter.
  2. Hold the lighter sideways and pass the flame back and forth across the frayed ends.
  3. The rope will start to melt and fuse together.
