What is the Old Testament?
The first people God created. Also, they committed the first sin.
Who are Adam and Eve?
The leader God called to lead His people out of Egypt.
Who is Moses?
Moses's successor. He led the people of Israel into the Promised Land.
Who is Joshua?
Someone who proclaims God's message. Also known as the voice of God or a mouth-piece of God for His people.
What is a prophet?
The number of books in the Bible.
What is 73?
The man who saved two of every animal and his family from the flood by building a big boat.
Who is Noah?
The tenth plague on Egypt. The people of Israel were spared by painting lamb's blood over their doorframes.
What is Passover?
The best king of Israel. He grew up as a shepherd and killed Goliath.
Who is David?
He is a model of faithfulness to people in exile. His book recounts the stories of his three friends in the fiery furnace and of himself surviving the lions' den.
Who is Daniel?
The number of books in the Bible.
What is 73?
God made a covenant with this man in which He gave the Promised Land to this man and his descendants. He is the father of Isaac.
Who is Abraham?
The amount of time Israel wandering in the desert.
What is 40 years?
The individuals led Israel after Joshua and before the kings. During their time, there was a regular pattern of Israel falling away from God and these people saving them.
Who are the Judges?
There are 150 of these emotional prayers. Many of them were written by king David. Two main types are lament and praise.
What are Psalms?
Looks at the literal meaning of the words of scripture.
What is the Literal sense of scripture?
Was sold by his brothers as a slave to Egypt.
Who is Joseph?
The name of the book which is Moses's final speech on Mt. Nebo. Also, the fifth book of the Bible.
What is Deuteronomy?
He built the Temple. He was the wisest king of Israel and was the third king.
Who is Solomon?
The first of the major prophets, he preached against social injustices of his time and that Israel must trust in God for protection. he also wrote about the "Suffering Servant," a foreshadowing of Jesus.
Who is Isaiah?
Looks to answer the questions of good/evil and who/what humans are and God is.
What is the Moral sense of scripture?
Adam and Eve ate the fruit from this tree when they committed Original Sin. It is the opposite of the Tree of Life.
What is the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil?
The seventh commandment.
What is "You shall not steal?"
The first king of Israel. He was tall and handsome, but his pride made him a bad king.
Who is Saul?
He was an innocent man who suffered intensely. His speeches with his friends wrestle with the question of "why evil happens to good people?"
