By using this technique we give the youth an opportunity to get their behavior under control by limiting the stimulus and by providing protection to them when they become a danger to themselves or others, SFCS maintains this level of safety by utilizing which techniques as a last resort.
What is Seclusion or Restraint?
The direct application of physical force without the use of any device, for the purpose of limiting the free movement of a youth's body.
What is Restraint?
Anytime a youth is placed in seclusion or a restraint is utilized, this form is completed in it's entirety.
What is the Seclusion/Restraint Form?
Youth is in their bedroom at quiet time. Youth has a one on one intervention. Youth wants to leave their bedroom without permission. Staff is sitting in the doorway blocking the youth from leaving and has their foot placed on the door, keeping it from coming open. Staff does not complete any paperwork for this situation.
What is staff was utilizing a seclusion?
(Seclusion procedure is to be followed, including filling out the seclusion/restraint paperwork, the unsafe behavior form, if necessary, and a critical/significant/unusual incident report.)
