Individuals were offered "free" 160 acres of land. The catch was that they had to work the land to produce sustainable agriculture for 5 years in order to acquire the deed to the land. You had to be 21 and a U.S. citizen or pursuing your U.S. citizenship.

The first failed promise to African-Americans. It was supposed to give 200,000 freedmen 40 acres and a mule under Lincoln's Administration. As soon as, Lincoln is assassinated, Johnson takes office and gives all the land back to southerners.

They took land from Native American reservations in Oklahoma until that ran out in 1892. This resulted in the last land allotment give away to be an all out race to see who could claim the land remaining land by placing their stake in it. This was called the Oklahoma Land Runs.

A person was to receive political office in return for supporting a political candidate's election. A disgruntled man believed that James Garfield owed him an office for being a key part of his election campaign. When he did not receive this office, he shot Garfield.

Abraham Lincoln's death was part of a larger plot that included what details? 

Assassination of Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth. Assassination of Vice President Andrew Johnson by George Atzerodt. Assassination of Secretary of state William Seward by Lewis Paine. John Wilkes Booth succeeded. Atzerodt got drunk and did nothing. Paine broke into Seward's home posing as someone delivering medicine. He stabbed Seward several times, as well as, other members of the household but did not manage to kill any of them. This was all do to unrest over the ending of the war for southerners.

The Union primarily employed the Chinese. The Central pacific went further on account of not having to cross through the Sierra Nevada mountains. The railroads met to connect the railroad in Promontory Point, Utah.
