What is a cell?

A cell is your room while you are staying here at YSC. You are in it alone and are responsible for anything in it.

100
What time do you start getting woken up for showers every morning?

Around 4:00 AM.

100

Are you required to attend school everyday?

School is voluntary- you are not required and you can decline school. However, it is a part of programming, so coming out and participating in school is definitely a positive thing for you to do while you are here.

100

What is the difference between a major and a minor rule violation?

Major rule violation- behaviors that are potentially dangerous to the acting-out youth or others, or are destructive to property.

Minor rule violation- do not threaten the safety and security of the facility but are still breaking policy rules.

200

You signed a cautionary statement when you first arrived. What does that do?

Cautions (Warns) you to not talk about your case or the reason you are here. Any information that you give out to other youth or staff here could possibly be used against you in court.

200

What are at least 2 expectations of your cell?

Keep it clean, bed is made before you leave your cell, your toilet is flushed, books, cards, and puzzles/pieces are neat on the table, no scratching paint off or inscribing anything into the door, walls, table, etc.

200

When do you request to make a phone call?

When staff wakes you up for your shower in the morning, they ask you who you would like to call throughout the day. This includes professionals and parent/guardian in the evening.

You have access to a doctor. How do you get to see him?

You have to ask that staff make a medical request for you. He will go through those requests the next time he is in the facility so you can see him.

300

True or false: You are expected to use manners and to ask permission from staff before doing anything.

TRUE. If you need something while in your cell, you have a cell card to put under your door and wait until staff can get to you. If you are in school, dayroom or gym, you are to raise your hand and ask permission for whatever you need.

Being rude, disrespectful or telling staff what is going to happen, or moving without asking first will likely have negative consequences.
