What can you use to hear from a device privately such as for testing or working independently in class?

I can use my patch cord and FM transmitter. I plug the cord into my transmitter and the computer's headphones jack.
If you don't use an FM microphone, then you could use headphones, or ask to go to a different location so the sound on your device doesn't disturb others.

Microphone is on, your batteries are OK in the hearing aids, no wax, but you still can't hear the teacher.

Ask the teacher to do a reboot on the mic, or contact my case manager or school audiologist.
Maybe you don't use a microphone. You still should let the teacher know, contact your case manager and let your parents know if you're using personal hearing aids.

How do you respond to a person who asks you, "What are those things in your ears?"

They're my hearing aids. They help me hear because I have a hearing loss.

I'm (deaf)  (hard of hearing).

Your batteries are good in your hearing aids, but the signal to the FM mic breaks up or is full of static.

Email the case manager or audiologist and switch to your personal hearing aids.

Tell all your teachers that you will have a harder time hearing today, ask for a closer seat.  Ask if teacher notes can be shared to follow along easier.
