No. Your parent is trying to talk to your sibling, the best thing to do is wait until they are done and tell them about your day later.

What is self-awareness?

When we are self-aware we are able to recognize our strengths and weaknesses. This knowledge helps us to set goals for ourselves. 


When we are self-aware we pay attention to how we are thinking and feeling and how this affects others.

A student in your class won an important sports competition this past weekend. How can you jump into the conversation with him/her? 

You could congratulate them on their award, and ask follow-up questions about the award.

Your mom comes home from work and says she got a flat tire and had to wait two hours for the tow truck. You had a bad day at work and really want to tell her about it, but you also want to consider her feelings. How might your mom be feeling?

Why is self-awareness important?

Self-awareness gives us the power to influence outcomes; helps us become better decision-makers and gives us more self-confidence.

Probably not. Your friend might show by her body language that she is in a rush, and if she is busy, you can start a conversation with her when she is free.

You are really excited to play in a soccer game after school today. At recess, you hurt your foot. How might you be feeling in regard to the soccer game?
