What is a weighing mechanism?
A weighing mechanism is what the judge will judge the round based upon. We commonly use "net benefits".
Aff Plan: TUSFG will invest in satellite solar panels.
Disad: Space junk will prevent the satellites from working
CP: TUSFG will invest in regular solar panel
Perm: Regular + satellite solar panels
How to respond using net benefits?
In the NEG world, we have the unique advantage of not causing space junk.
Identify and explain the two types of competition.
Competing on Net Benefits: You must prove why the CP is better on it’s own and why doing both would be worse than doing the CP alone.
Mutual Exclusivity: The plan and the CP cannot physically, or functionally exist in the same world.
