Elements of Drama
Refers to the build-up of suspense and excitement in a scene. It has four types.
Tension - Relationship, Surprise, Mystery, Task
A repeated sequence of movement that is highly stylised.
Ritualised movement
the meaning/s or message/s communicated by manipulating the dramatic languages to create dramatic action

Character

Dramatic action
What is the dramatic meaning of this moment:
Panuelo witnesses a flashback of her mother and father. They are in the middle of an argument where the father hits the mother. She then retaliates and shoots the father, killing him. The father disappears in a cloud of dust.

Time

Symbol

Dramatic Languages
What happens next? Panuelo arrives at the church. The nuns welcome her inside and give her a new dress to match theirs. Panuelo is seen in the middle of the stage, possibly praying.

refers to the intent of the creator/s or interpreter/s of the dramatic action and meaning,
Dramatic Purpose
Describe what has happened immediately before Panuelo is seen crying sand.
