What are the expectations for staff attendance?

Be on time: Please arrive on time and be ready to start your shift as scheduled.
Be in your room on time: Staff should be in their assigned room exactly at their scheduled start time.
Attendance Checker: Please make sure to sign yourself in the attendance and out when leaving.

What Do We Need to Know About Releasing Children?
Summary – Child Pick-Up / Release Policy
Children must never leave the Center unaccompanied.
Children may only be released to:
A parent/guardian listed on the enrollment form.
An authorized person identified by the parent/guardian.
If the person picking up the child is unfamiliar to educators, they must provide acceptable government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, passport, or photo health card), which must be checked against the child’s enrollment information.
Children cannot be released to anyone under 16, including siblings.
A person 16 or 17 years old may pick up a child only with written parental permission.
If the person is not listed on the enrollment form, the parent must provide written/message authorization. If no message was received, educators must contact the parent by phone for approval.
If the parent/guardian cannot be reached, the child must not be released to that person.
What do we need to know about the Outdoor Temperature and Air Quality Policy?

–5°C or warmer: Full hour outdoors
–6°C to –20°C: Reduced outdoor time
Below –20°C: No outdoor play

School-Age

What steps should we follow when acknowledging food delivery in the classroom?
Make sure to check the labels before serving food.
Confirm that each child’s food restrictions and allergies are properly followed.
Acknowledge and double-check food requirements for everyone before serving.
Check that utensils, plates/bowls, and cups are complete and ready for everyone.
What is family-style eating, and what are the key expectations for educators?
Family-Style Meals & Open Snack
Family-style meals: Educators and children eat together in a relaxed, social environment.
Encourage manners, sharing, turn-taking, independence, and positive conversations about food.
Children can help set the table, serve themselves, and pour their own drinks with appropriate utensils.
Food must always be served in plates, bowls, or containers—not directly on tables or highchair trays.
Encourage children to try different foods, but never force them to eat or taste anything.
Keep mealtimes calm, positive, and unhurried. Children can help clean up spills and their own place settings.
Open snack: Provide a small table for 2–3 children, with food covered and appropriate serving utensils.
Children may choose when they are ready to eat, while educators ensure everyone has an opportunity to have snack.

What should we know about the Incident/Accident Report Protocol?
Document every injury or incident that requires attention, even if it appears minor.
Complete the Accident/Incident Report as soon as possible while the details are fresh.
Record what happened, where and when it happened, who was involved, and what action/First Aid was provided.
Keep the documentation factual and objective—do not include assumptions or opinions.
The Director or Person-In-Charge should be informed of serious incidents or injuries.
The parent/guardian should be informed of the incident and provided with the completed report according to Centre policy.
Make sure the parent/guardian reviews and acknowledges the report as required.
All reports must be completed accurately, signed, and submitted/stored appropriately.
Maintain confidentiality and do not discuss another child’s incident or personal information with other families.
