Explain the story of how Pa found Serafina?

• Pa, who was working as a mechanic/handyman at the Biltmore Estate, found the abandoned baby and initially tried to find her help. Pa brought the baby to a nearby church, but the nuns refused to care for her because of her deformities—specifically her four toes on each foot, malformed collarbones, and curved spine. Because he could not find help and the nuns rejected her, Pa took the baby in, raising her secretly in the basement of the Biltmore Estate. Pa kept her hidden from the world for her own protection, fearing that people would take her away or harm her because of her differences.
