These are made of metal. They are 7-8" long with bent handles and are used to cut fabric.

These help move fabric under the presser foot as stitches are formed.
What are feed dogs?
This part controls the thread as it goes through the needle.
What is the thread take-up lever?
This is used to mark on fabric.
What is tailor's chalk or marking pencil?
These have a zigzag cutting edge and help prevent raveling.
What are pinking shears?
This is used to protect your finger when sewing.
What is a thimble?
By turning this towards yourself, you raise and lower the needle to place it exactly where you want.
What is the hand wheel or balance wheel?
This regulates pressure on the thread.
What is tension control?
This paper has a chalk or wax backing that transfers pattern markings to fabric.

This is used to remove unwanted stitches.
What is a seam ripper?
These are used to hold pieces of fabric together before stitching.
What are straight pins?
This part of the machine holds the fabric in place while stitching.
