Why do we read Megillat Ruth on Shavuot?

1. Ruth was King David's great-grandmother. King David was born on Shavuot and he died on Shavuot.

2. Like Ruth, who was a convert and thereby accepted the laws of the Torah upon herself, the Jewish people accepted the laws of the Torah upon themselves on Shavuot at Mt Sinai 

3. Shavuot is known as the harvest festival. The story of Ruth takes place during the harvest season.
