Like Ruth, who was a convert and thereby accepted the laws of the Torah upon herself, the Jewish people accepted the laws of the Torah upon themselves on Shavuot at Mt Sinai 3. Shavuot is known as the harvest festival. The story of Ruth takes place during the harvest season.
