use the eyewash station: Ask for help, make it to the sink where you will grab the bottle, lean over the sink and squeeze the bottle with an open eye to flush out debris. keep doing until it feels better. Alternately, you can take your top eyelashes and pull them overtop of your lower lashes. Remember to TELL THE TEACHER

stop what you're doing and put your project and tools away, then clean up your area. once your area is clean look around the room for what else needs cleaning.
When should you use a push stick or clamp?
When my hands would be close to the blade or to secure the wood from moving as you cut/drill.
Who turns on the machine for use?
The person using the machine!!!
In the case of an emergency and we need to exit the school, walk me through what we need to do as a class. start with the first person leaving the room and where we go, then what we do when we wait for clearance to reenter the school.
the first person should open the door, the second person will lead the class around the school and on to the field where your class typically lines up, the teacher will take attendance and we will be calm and listen for our names and wait together as a class for further instruction from our teacher.
How should we behave in the shop?
Calmly, ready to concentrate, focussed, respectful of others, the shop, and yourself.
What general shop cleaning duties need to be done each day beyond cleaning your own stuff up and away?
Sweeping the floors, vacuuming machines, ensure safety glasses are all put away, pencils are back, tables are clean, finishing room and sanding table are clean, and help others who may need some assistance.
End of day benches are put up on tables.

pull off wall, pull pin out, aim at the base of the flame and pull the nozzle
If you don't know how to use a machine it is okay to ask another student for help?
No! Always ask the teacher if you are unsure about a machine.
If it is a question about a project or what step to do please ask another student for help.
Emergencies are rare but if you do get injured by a cut what should you do?
Get the teacher. either yourself or ask someone else to. apply pressure, clean area, and apply bandage. if it requires stitches the teacher will send you to the office with another student and they will take care of you ensuring you get to the hospital.
what should happen if you are being unsafe in the shop?
If you a putting yourself or others at risk physically or emotionally, you will be redirected by the teacher. The incident will be based on the level of risk and assessed for your ability to remain in the shop or coached on appropriate behaviour.
After you apply your finish and your project is complete what do you do?
Hand it in with an evaluation sheet filled in by yourself, then the teacher, before taking it home.
What will protect you the best in the shop?
Knowledge of the safety and how to use things properly and act accordingly. Your behaviour and actions.
