Suboccipital Region
NAV
100

This originates in the upper 8 ribs

Serrated Anterior

100

Muscles of the spinotransveralis group and their action(s).

Splenius group; pulls head posteriorly (bilateral) and turns head ipsilaterally (unilateral)

100
Muscle on anterior upper arm, has 2 heads, helps with elbow flexion (curls) and shoulder flexion
Biceps
100

Nerve of this region

Suboccipital nerve

100

Nerve that innervates the trapezius

Spinal accessory nerve (cranial nerve 11)

200

This nerve innervates the both the Teres Minor and the Deltoid muscles

Axillary nerve

200

Insertion: spinous process of upper thoracic vertebrae (4-8)

Spinalis

200
Group of 4 muscles that provide dynamic stability to glenohumeral joint
Rotator Cuff Muscles
200

Transverse process of atlas (C1)

origin of the obliquues capitis superior

insertion of the obliquues capitis inferior

200

Dorsal primary ramus of the 1st cervical nerve; runs within the Suboccipital triangle

Abduction (Deltoid muscle)

300

Origin is the greater tubercle

supraspinatus, infraspinatus, Teres minor

300

What are the OIANs of the transversospinalis group?

O: transverse process

I: spinous process at a higher level

A: extend vertebral column (bilateral) and contralateral rotation (unilateral)

300
Rotator cuff muscle: "Superior to the Spine of the scapula"
Supraspinatus
300

Boundaries

Inferior: obliquues capitis inferior

Lateral: obliquues capitols superior

Medial: rectus capitis posterior major

300

Runs within the Suboccipital triangle through the transverse foramen of the cervical vertebrae

Vertebral artery

400

Teres Major origin and insertion

O: dorsal surface of scapula by the inferior angle

I: medial lip of the interterbecular groove

400

Splenius capitals origin

Ligamentum nauche, spinous proves of cervical vertebrae 7 to thoracic vertebra 3

400
Rotator cuff muscle: "Inferior to the Spine of the Scapula"
Infraspinatus
400

Origin of Rectus capitiits posterior minor

Posterior tubercle of atlas

400

Triangular space

Space bounded by the Teres major, Teres minor, and long head of the triceps; transmits the circumflex scapular artery — a branch of the subscapular artery

500

Origin of serratus anterior

The anterior surface of the medial border of the scapula

500

Nerve Innervation: dorsal rami of some spinal nerves

Iliocostialis, longissimus, spinalis

500
Rotator cuff muscle: "Under the Scapula"
Subscapularis
500

All 4 muscles have the same action, however 1 of the muscles has one last action than the other 4. What is that muscle and its one origin.

Obliquues capitis inferior; turn head to same side (ipsilateral)

500

Suprascapular artery

Arises from the thyrocervical trunk (from subclavian) and passes Laterally just superoposterior to the clavicle. It joins that super scapular nerve and vein near the scapular notch and passes superficial to the superior transverse scapular ligament. It supplies the supraspinous fossa, infraspinous fossa, and the anastomose with the circumflex scapular artery.
