What is unused/unlocked rooms and closets?
Subtle forms of physical contact as a means to groom a child for sexual abuse. (Hugs, tickling, lap-sitting and hand holding)
What is Inappropriate Touching?
Someone hurts or harms a child or young person on purpose.
What is Physical Abuse?
A room that provides privacy that you need to actively monitor.
What is bathrooms?
Privacy creates opportunities for abuse. Staff must not be left alone with a child without other ADULTS being present.
What is NO Alone Time?
Involves the continual emotional mistreatment of a child.
What is Emotional Abuse?
Needs a standard procedure for checking in visitors in and out of the facility.
What is Main Entrance?
Gift giving, excessive praise or other forms of favors are all ways that abusers seek to make their victims feel 'special.'
What is Favoritism?
An interaction between a child and adult in which the child is used for the sexual stimulation of the perpetrator or an observer.
What is Sexual Abuse?
Do not allow unmonitored access to this type of entrance.
What is the BACK entrance?
Abusers may seek to establish relationships outside of work where abuse is less likely to be detected.
What is Outside Contact?
An act that results in depriving a child of their basic needs.
