Describe the four main periods of Prehistory quickly.
Ice Age: Europe was a big, icy land mass, and Britain was a peninsula from Europe. People moved around on it, following animals which they hunted for food.
Stone Age: It is called this way because humankind used rough stone (usually flint) and wood implements and weapons, mostly axes.
Bronze Age: Tin and copper were found in abundance in the British territory, and by smelting the two metals together, inhabitants manufactured bronze. The appearance of metal marks an important technological development, since now tools and weapons were made of bronze.
Iron Age: During this age, bronze tools and weapons were replaced by iron-made ones. How did iron reach Britain? Thanks to the Celts, the new invaders, who settled on the island and helped Britons to learn how to work with Iron.

Describe the 3 periods from the Stone Age.
Paleolithic: The Britons were hunters, fishers and gatherers. They collected food and were nomads. Their clothes were the skins of wild animals and their homes or shelters were caves. Ice still remained.
Mesolithic: Britons were still nomads, although they started to create some houses, but not to stay there permanently since they went to the country only when the climate was appropriate. At the end of the Mesolithic that the Ice started to melt.
Neolithic: Britain was already an island during the last period of the Stone Age.
It was during this period that farming was introduced. This led to a more settled way of life: the Britons started to settle in the country, becoming permanent inhabitants. They kept and domesticated these animals. They later developed the flint-mining industry, developed their own textile industry (they produced their own clothes) and also knew how to make pottery.
