To make friends, get to know others, people will think we are being nice (if were not social other kids may think we are being mean or rude) and if we don’t follow these rules it can make others upset or scared.

Why is it important to figure out what others are thinking/feeling?
It can tell you how to approach a friend or initiate a conversation. When you get a test back you notice that your friend is upset. You aren’t going to go over to the friend and start making jokes. Instead, you can ask them if they are okay or what you can do to help. Shows that you care.

Name the steps to reading the room
Notice what the people in the room are doing so we will know how to act; look at the whole room, people in it and what they are doing (we use our eyes)
We can use Non-Verbal Language Cues to read the room: facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice can help us to GUESS how others are feeling.
Think about the situation and how you usually act in that situation (we use our brain)
Make a plan based on what you see & consider other people's’ feelings
