Say their name and wait until you've gained the person's attention before speaking. Wait until the person is finished speaking to someone else or has finished with their current task before trying to gain their attention. Make brief eye contact. Raise your hand and wait to be called on.

Someone could get hurt, and it may change how others feel about you (temporarily or permanently).

When you're upset, you need to give yourself time (take a break), use a strategy (calm breathing), and think of something else to help you react in a more appropriate manner and find your calm.

Example must include: someone having a plan, their schedule changes, and then the person accepts the new plan. You need to have an inside calmness, an outside calmness, and think of one positive thing about the new plan.

You can be sent to the STARS room for a class period or the remainder of the school day. You can get ISS, a discipline referral, out of school suspension, loss of privileges, closer monitoring by the STARS team, folders to complete, etc.

Is it possible to have more than one emotion in a given day?
Yes. Emotions change as your day progresses.
What is color breathing?
With a calm body and closed eyes, you think of a calming color, and you picture inhaling it (blue). Then you think of a color that represents your big emotions (red), and you picture exhaling it. Repeat the process until you are calm.
