Someone is asking you questions about a recent vacation you had and asks "Did you take any pictures?" What are they really asking for? What is the literal meaning?
Literally: Did I? Yes.
Actually want to see the pictures from your vacation.
You need to get the teacher's attention because you have a question about the material, what do you do?
Raise your hand, type the question in the chatbox, talk to the teacher privately, etc.
Your friends are talking about how they plan to get jobs over the summer. What is a follow up question you could ask?
"Where are you applying?" "What type of job do you want?" "When would you start?" etc.
Someone gets in a fight with their parents and are very stressed out. What is one strategy they could use to calm down?
Deep breaths, take a break, get a drink of water, spend some time alone, etc.
You fall during gym class and skin your knee. On a scale of 0-6, how big of a problem is this?

Drink water yourself so everyone has something to drink, offer water to someone else to see if anyone would prefer water

0 or 1, they are probably busy. If it's out of character for them you could contact them and make sure they're okay.
You just got a test back and got a good grade on it. Your friend turns to you and says "Wow, that was a hard test don't you think?" What do they want? How could you take this literally?
Literally: No, it wasn't that hard.
They want: Reassurance that it was hard and it's okay if they didn't do well, they might want to see your grade.
After basketball practice you go back to the locker room with your team to shower and change. When you are done dressing, you can't find your shoes. What could you do?
Ask someone for help finding them
You have concerns about your dog's appetite and the vet is telling you the results of their examination and that everything looks fine. What is a follow up question you could ask?
"Do you think my dog is eating enough?" "Is she a normal weight for a dog her size?" "Is she eating the right kind of food?" etc.
