Is this harmful or playful teasing? 

This is probably playful teasing. His friends were trying to joke privately with him and not embarrass him. 

If Tung Tung was angry and asking them to stop, would it be harmful?

Normally, it's okay to ask an adult about a word or topic if you're not sure if it's appropriate or not.
