What does it mean to steal a base?
When the ball is pitched, you are going to put your head down and RUN without looking at the ball. No matter if the pitch is a ball or strike
After you hit the ball, where should you be looking?
Head down, SPRINTING to 1st base. 1st base coach will tell you what to do so LISTEN to what they are telling you
When someone is not forced to run but does, how do you get them out?
Who is the cut off in left, center and right field?
Left = SS, right = 2nd, center = either 2nd or SS depending on the communication
How do you know if a player is forced to run?
There is someone behind them who HAS to run
Exception (runner on 2 and 3 but not 1)
What does "on deck" mean and what should you do when you are on deck?
You are the next hitter, you should be in the cage or the designated area and be ready to hit next. You should be swinging to the timing of the pitcher.
If you have a runner on your base, why do you need to go back to your base after every pitch?
In case they get too big of a lead and we can throw them out
Is a ball that is touching the foul line a fair or foul ball?
FAIR. A ball has to be 100% off of the line to be considered a foul ball

Check 3, go 1 outfield go home
Top of the pitching motion, square up with your fingers back pinching where the barrel of the bat gets fat. Then, touch the bat to the ball. Do NOT swing.

1st goes in, 3rd goes in, pitcher comes in
2nd goes to 1st, SS goes to 3rd, CF comes in to 2nd
What is the drop third strike rule?
If there are less than 2 outs and the catcher drops the ball and it is a strike (thrown or you swing) you can still run to first base if it is unoccupied!
If there are two outs you can run even if the base is occupied on a drop third strike.
What does it mean when coach yells out ROUND, UP and DOWN?
Round = hit the base and get a lead
Up = Don't slide, stay up ON the base. Do not overrun
