How do we handle "difficult" employees? 

Keep your hands to yourself: do not touch, make gestures, or take a posture that may escalate a situation with an agitated employee.   


Call a “Time Out” if a break would enable the employee to get over initial anger and be in a better frame of mind to deal 


Make your responses non-confrontational.   


Take notes.  
Be action oriented, but do not make promises you cannot keep.
Don’t make it personal; focus on the behavior and performance.   


Be positive and constructive.
