Some stores and restaurants refused to serve them. They could not attend the same schools as White Americans. They could not use the same bathrooms and water fountains. They had to ride in the back of the bus and stand if a White American wanted their seat.

How is the work done on a port different today than in the past?
In the past the loading and unloading was done by hand. Today goods are loaded in containers that are the same sizes and can be lifted with cranes. The goods are not as easily damaged in containers, it is easier, faster, and cheaper because less people need to be hired to do the work.
