-Tidewater plantations had many many slaves, backcountry had less.

-TP had large plantation estates, backcountry had small farms

-Life in the backcountry was more democratic, people had more of a say

-TP grew mainly tobacco, indigo, and cotton while the backcountry focused on peas, corn and beans

-TP had flat farm land and the backcountry had rolling hills and forests

People offered paid passage to the colonies in return for a certain amount of years of working. Upon completion of their contract, they were given their "freedom dues."

Describe Bacon's Rebellion!!

uprising in Virginia started by a farmer, Nathaniel Bacon, to raid Native American villages and burn down the capital/ Jamestown. 

-This happened because there was conflict between Native Americans and settlers for farming land, but the governor of Virginia refused to take action against the NA, so Bacon + mob took it into their own hands...
