Describe the difference between an Asteroid, a Comet, and a Meteor.

(Simple differences are acceptable)

Asteroids are rocky objects that are leftover from the formation of the solar system. They are larger than meteoroids but smaller than planets, and are often irregularly shaped. Asteroids orbit in the asteroid belt, which is located between Mars and Jupiter.

Comets are large, icy bodies made of frozen gases, dust, and rock, with a frozen nucleus. Comets are believed to originate from the Kuiper belt or the Oort cloud. As they approach the sun, their ice and dust vaporize, causing them to appear fuzzy or have a tail when viewed through a telescope.

Meteors are small pieces of asteroids or comets that enter Earth's atmosphere at high speeds and burn up, creating a streak of light in the sky known as a shooting star. If a meteor survives its descent and lands on the ground, it's called a meteorite.
