MCS tips will naturally discolor over time and staff should not expect the tips to remain "shiny". What is the name of the chemical reaction that naturally occurs to cause this discoloration?

Iron oxidation.

*Iron oxidation occurs naturally over time as energy is applied to metal. 

*The discoloration can occur with first use if it's a long case.

*Important to train OR and SPD staff on this so 1) OR staff doesn't expect shiny and 2) SPD staff don't use abrasive products on the tips that removes the passivation layer (non-stick layer).
