What is the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
A developmental disability significantly affecting verbal and nonverbal communication, routine and ritualistic behavior, and social interaction.
What is Autism?
Time allowed to respond to a staff member or parent's request to convene an IEP Meeting.
What are 10 Calendar days?
This ensures that no changes can be made in a child's program without prior notice to the parents. It also provides a mechanism for the resolution of disagreements when parents disagree with the program recommendations of the school district.
What is due process?
When a child appears to be struggling in school parents, teachers or other school personnel can do this

What are Multiple Disabilities? (does not included deaf-blindness)
The document that provides notice to parents of anything the team proposed or refused, along with any other relevant information from the meeting.
What is the Prior Written Notice?
This must occur after 10 school days of any decision to change the placement of a child with a disability because of violation of school code.
What is a Manifestation Determination meeting (MD)? IEP team must review all relevant information in the student's file to determine if the conduct in question was caused by the child's disability or if the conduct was a direct result of the school district's failure to implement the child's IEP.

What is the IEP process?
Having limited strength, vitality or alertness including a heightened alertness to environmental stimuli that results in limited alertness with respect to the education environment that a) is due to a chronic or acute health problems b) adversely affects a child's education performance
What is Other Health Impairment?
We have to convene this in order to review, draft or review/revise FBA/BIP after a student has had a change of placement for more than 10 cumulative days (including suspensions) and to determine if the student's disability was responsible for the behavior..
What is a Manifestation Determination?
Parent, general education teacher, special education teacher, administrator (representative of the LEA), individual who can interpret instructional implications of evaluation results, other individuals who have knowledge or special expertise regarding the child, if appropriate, the student
Who are the required members of an IEP team?
A condition exhibiting one or more of the following characteristics of an extended period of time, to a marked degree & adversely affects a child's education performance: 1)Inability to learn that cannot be explained by intellectual, sensory or health factors 2) Inability to build or maintain satisfactory relationships with peers & adults 3) Inappropriate types of behavior or feelings under normal circumstances 4) A general pervasive mood of unhappiness or depression 5) A tendency to develop physical symptoms or fears associated with personal or school problems.
