Which of the following scenarios is a HIPAA violation? EXPLAIN

  • A. A nurse discusses a patient's condition with a consulting physician in a private room.
  • B. A doctor shares a patient's medical history with an insurance company for billing purposes.
  • C. A hospital employee posts a photo of a patient's X-ray on social media, even though the patient's name is removed.
  • C.
  • Even though the patient's name was removed from the X-ray image, it's still considered a HIPAA violation. This is because the image itself, especially a medical image like an X-ray, can contain identifying information. For example, unique medical devices, specific injuries, or unusual anatomical features could potentially identify the patient.
