How do you think the sand got to the beach?

The sand comes from the river!
Rocks and boulders high up in the mountains tumble and break apart when it rains and the water starts rushing.
As water tumbles the rocks down the river, they break into smaller and smaller pieces.
Eventually, only the smallest pieces of rock (sand) get carried out to the ocean through the river mouth.
The small, sand-sized pieces of rock get deposited along the beach.
