What is NS?
The steps completed after a student gets a cut or scrape that breaks skin.
What is clean area with soap and water & cover with bandage?
A new one must be signed by a parent each year meds are given at school.
What is a Med Permission Form?
A first time situation where the student’s symptoms include jerking, intense shaking, and is unresponsive to stimulus.
What is a seizure?
Student, dose, time, route, medication, and documentation
What are the six rights of medication administration?
Do this if the medication bottle & the MAR don’t match.
What is STOP- Do not give the medication?
The length of time to stay home after 3 episodes of diarrhea in a day.
What is 24 hours?
Staff and coaches who take students off campus or for field trips must attend/complete this.
What is the Health Training Class–CPR/EPI/MEDS?
A medication was administered outside of the 30 minute window.
What is a medication error?
This medication is given for opioid overdose and is kept next to the AED.
What is Narcan/Naloxone?
This medication is given to a student with Type 1 Diabetes who is found unconscious.
What is glucagon?
A student has trouble breathing, a red, itchy rash, and says he was just stung by a bee.
What is anaphylaxis/give an Epi Pen?
A parent must fill this out when registering a new enter student or a student transfers from out of state to your school.
What is an OR CIS Form?
A student with this health condition requires nurse notification when going on a field trip where a meal will be provided.
What is a student with Type 1 Diabetes?
Must accompany any or all medication checked out and going on a field trip.
What is a copy of the MAR?
Do this when a parent checks in a medication that you are not familiar with.
What is call the RN?
The person you notify immediately when there has been an exposure to a possible blood borne pathogen.
Who is the site administrator?
Amount of time required when notifying RN prior to class parties that include food for students with Type 1 Diabetes.
What is 2 weeks?
Crutches, walker, cane, brace, wraps, wheelchair, splint, boot
What is DME that requires a doctor's note?
These medications may NOT be stored in the health room, are not for students and are NOT purchased by the school.
What are staff medications?
Medications carried by a student require these three things.
